Thanks Tony. Social networks for business is an interesting one. I’m currently doing a comparison of different networking sites some of the clinical sectors are on (if any), because like you I’m looking at where the most relevant sites are for this group. It’s definitely not a one size fits all – discussion over a cup of coffee I suspect…..

Great post, Heidi, and I agree with Tony Cosentino about linking to your post. You’re writing is so accessible to the business community I’m going to recommend this post to others.

I often get caught up in that “echo-chamber” of like-minded souls where we forget that the language we use is unintelligible to others in the broader community who could actually benefit from what we are talking about, yet we’ve excluded them because they don’t speak “geek”.

I’m particularly interested in talking further with you on point 5 – using social networks to advertise your site. I advise my clients to use 3 main social networks: blog, Twitter and Facebook as I see these as universal (Facebook continues to stagger me with its growth, and increasing business applications – one friend of mine who has published a book about personal development is generating the majority of their sales via their Facebook page, irrespective of their website, for example) I look forward to hearing more about your approach to social network relevancy.
